An Attached Soul

An Attached Soul

It’s evening in the Desert of Judah and the psalmist David is reflecting. Evening was often a time of reflection.

And in Psalm 63 we find David confessing his longing for God and how he has beheld God’s power and God’s glory. He’s earnestly seeking God and says that his whole body is longing for God “as a dry and parched land where there is no water.”

But this, this statement captures me to today.

My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. Psalm 63:8.

The Hebrew word for cling carries with it this sense of keeping close or following closely with God. It demonstrates a close proximity to God. A sticking with God and it is intense. It’s a soul joined to God.
So friend, whether you’re in the valley, the desert, or on top of the mountain, may your soul cling to God and may you know and experience his right hand (the hand of power and love) upholding you.

Soul-Training Practice: Read & Meditate on Psalm 63. What do you thirst for? Long for? What stands out for you today? Write out your thoughts and a prayer response back to God.
